"type":"text","title":"A%20Homage%20to%20Fritz%20Bultman","body":"%3Cp%3E%3Cspan%3E%3Cimg%20align%3D%22right%22%20alt%3D%22fritz%22%20src%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.tumblr.com%2Ftumblr_m1wr48F9a21rn3qf0.png%22%2F%3EAs%20an%20honors%20student%20at%20Mass.%20College%20of%20Art%2C%20Cynthia%C2%A0%3C%2Fspan%3Ereceived%3Cspan%3E%C2%A0a%20BFA%3B%20it%20is%20here%20that%20Cynthia%20spent%20much%20of%20her%20time%20in%20the%20studio%20after%20class%20hours%20working%20on%20sculptures.%C2%A0%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%3E%3Cspan%3EAfter%20college%2C%20she%20returned%20to%20Provincetown%20and%20to%20painting%2C%20where%20she%20studied%20and%20modeled%20for%20the%20late%20Fritz%20Bultman.%20Her%20five%20year%20relationship%20with%20Bultman%20influenced%20her%20work%20greatly%20and%20he%20remained%20Packard%E2%80%99s%20mentor%20until%20his%20death.%20%C2%A0%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3EA%20Homage%20to%20Fritz%20Bultman%3C%2Fstrong%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%3E%3Cem%3E%E2%80%9CIn%20the%20summer%20of%201978%20I%20became%20Frit%E2%80%99z%20model.%20The%20drawing%20sessions%20were%20ritualistic%2C%20always%20the%20same.%20Fritz%20changed%20into%20a%20special%20shoes%2C%20a%20loafer-sneaker%20type.%20He%20wore%20a%20button%20down%2C%20light%20blue%20shirt%2C%20tattered%20at%20the%20neck%20and%20cuffs%20with%20loose%20khaki%20pants.%20There%20was%20the%20easel%2C%20which%20was%20strategically%20placed%20close%20to%20me.%20The%20wooden%20board%20had%C2%A0unusually%C2%A0long%20metal%20pushpins%2C%20one%20at%20each%20corner%20to%20hold%20the%20paper.%20He%20always%20used%20two%20ply%2C%2024%20x%2030%20inches%20Strathmore%20paper.%20His%20tools%20were%20blue%20leaded%20pencils%202B%2C%204B%2C%206B%20and%20pink%20pearl%20erasers%2C%20lots%20of%20them.%20There%20was%20only%20one%20pose%20per%20three%20hour%20session.%3C%2Fem%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%3E%3Cem%3EI%20watched%20him%20as%20I%20sat%20completely%20still%2C%20his%20movement%20gently%2C%20barely%20touching%20the%20paper%20contrasted%20with%20a%20quick%20attack%20line%20after%20line.%20The%20lines%C2%A0disappearing%C2%A0beneath%20the%20pink%C2%A0eraser%C2%A0which%20looked%20like%20a%20rose%20snow%20covering%20his%20shoes%3B%20covering%20the%20floor%20where%20he%20stood%20dancing%20and%C2%A0battling%C2%A0with%20those%20four%20edges.%20The%20only%20world%20that%20mattered%20for%20the%20moment.%20Feeling%20the%20pose%2C%20the%20space%20around%20me%2C%20the%20air%20pushing%20and%20pulling%20where%20my%20body%20opened%20and%20closed.%20I%20began%20to%20understand%20the%20meanings%20of%20these%20drawings.%20After%20a%20few%20years%20he%20one%20day%20asked%20me%20to%20find%20a%20model%20and%20that%20now%20I%20would%20stand%20next%20to%20him%20and%20he%20would%20be%20my%20teacher%20and%20so%20the%20true%20beginning%20of%20my%C2%A0journey%C2%A0as%20an%20artist%20began.%E2%80%9D%3C%2Fem%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%0A%3Cp%3E%3Cem%3E-Cynthia%20Packard%3C%2Fem%3E%3C%2Fp%3E"
