This is the third painting of Cynthia’s new series of paintings influenced by the travesty of the Trayvon Martin murder.
The hoodie has emerged as an symbol, a silent way of expressing solidarity and anger over justice delayed as protests erupt nationwide over the death of an unarmed black teenager at the hands of a Central Florida neighborhood watch captain who viewed the boy as suspicious. But this series speaks not just on Trayvon but instead it speaks to all of the young men and women that are stereotyped everyday.
We fear the unknown, well lets get to know each other. Personal relationships will conquer racism.
